About Us

Lainey's Butterfly Memories was created by myself, Betty Darnell in memory of my daughter, Elaina. In 2023, while pregnant with twins, Elaina and Emilia, complications arose, leading to Elaina's passing. After Lainey passed, our family was given a butterfly painting in her memory. Emilia was in the NICU for the next 3 months, and every day of her stay, she had a small butterfly picture put on her incubator so her sister was never far.

Realizing that infant loss was more common, and unfortunately not talked about much, I wanted to do something to help grieving families. I started out making paintings for local families, or other families I had met in the hospital. Then, I donated paintings to multiple hospitals in the Cincinnati area to give to families in memory of their own babies.

I don't want to stop there. I want any family that wants a painting to be able to get one, so they have something to see and hold to remember their baby. Often times, families are not as lucky as ours when it comes to keepsakes. We have multiple keepsakes and items to remember Lainey, but some families have none.

Unique, Hand-Painted Memories

You can reach out to any artist to make you a butterfly painting. My paintings are customized to meet your specifications and made with your loved ones in mind, from someone who has experienced what you are going through. 25% of the profits are donated to Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati, in memory of Lainey.

I hope that by purchasing a piece of art, or even by browsing some of my pieces, you feel a connection and understand that while something devastating has happened, you are not alone.
